Another week of
great weather, but temps are moving up into the low
90's for a day or two and then back into the 80's.
For the first time all summer we could actually use
a rain, bu the good news is showers are expected
over the next few days.
Corn harvest has
begun in most of West Tennessee and Southwest
Kentucky. Yields are beyond belief with much of
the silage corn coming in at 150-175 bushels per
acre; this is on ground that usually averages
115-125. Many fields are averaging 180-200 in
Western Kentucky grain counties.
Cattle prices seemed
to have drifted upward a cent or two this week but
supplies are very good for this time of year. Now
may be a good time to start looking at lightweight
cattle for wheat. I know it's a little early but
we expect supplies to be tighter this fall than
normal.
